A leading media and telecom group in Saudi Arabia is developing a modem to ensure connectivity with multiple technologies (Satellite, WiFi, 3G, 4G...) to provide access to data services and media services on the go.

The client has engaged an OEM based in Taiwan and is working to achieve a functional prototype.
The OEM is responsible for the design as per specs and of the prototype delivery.

We are looking for a device expert with experience in managing OEMs through the design, prototype and eventually scale-up phases of the production of this device.
This person will have to represent our client in front of the OEM and work closely with the OEM to ensure that the device is developed as per specifications.

Duration: 6 months
Region: Taiwan

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the RD Engineer is to monitor, asses device design, sw porting and test cases, review prototype development and report back on the daily work being performed during the R&D phase of Orbit Connect devices in Taiwan.

-Review and asses partner’s device design, solution partner ( SoC Porting, SW development)
-Catch up on partner’s progress
-In-depth oversight of partner’s day to day work and progress
-Provide immediate escalation in case any red flags/issues are observed
-Gap analysis, milestone management and risk management
-Daily comprehensive reports
-Timeline projections, mitigation and provide resolution
-Professional background

REQUIREMENTS
-Extensive experience in device development, manufacturing and sourcing with OEM (ideally Taiwan)
-Deep understanding of the design and prototyping phase of a device development
-Good knowledge of mobile technologies and experience in developing Modems and media devices
-Availability to be in Taiwan
-Chinese language is ideal

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-R&D for OEM, CPE, SoC Lab facility
-Knowledge in streaming devices including IP Unicast/Multicast solutions, DVB/MPEG profiles
-Knowledge in Broadcast, DTT and DVB Satellite communication standards and protocols
-Familiar with PCB design, schematics, layout, and SMT
-SoC architecture and integration
-Software development for Middleware & Smartphone Application
-Content encryption/decryption (DRM, CA, DTCP, DLNA Protocol Stack)
-LTE, WIFI, IP networking
-Quality Assurance and Acceptance Testing, Placing/Writing Test Cases
-Full Reporting and Project Management

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-Preferably Electronics/Electrical Engineer/ Device / OEM RD Engineer
