Mandarin Reviewers for UI/UX & Supplier-facing translations

English to Mandarin Proofreaders/reviewers for UI/UX and supply chain/e-commerce/logistics content
English to Mandarin linguists are needed to help with QA/quality review for supplier-facing content for an international e-commerce company.
The work involves the following main tasks:
-proofreading and edits to existing translations
-evaluating translation quality of each content row/segment
-providing quality feedback comments to the translator
-flagging issues/questions about the content, as needed.
All tasks can be conveniently performed in Smartling. For an overview of the review feature used in Smartling, please refer to this Smartling Help Center article. Onboarding guidelines will be shared with the successful candidates.
As an English-Mandarin reviewer, you will need to possess the following skills/experience:
-Ability to review and evaluate the quality of supplier-facing translated content from an e-commerce/supply chain/operations/logistics domain (e.g. outreach emails, educational materials, presentations, website UI/UX content, etc.) from English to Mandarin
-Ability to efficiently edit texts within CAT tools (experience with Smartling is a plus)
-Ability to communicate effectively with the in-house translations team, e.g. to flag terminology issues, validate translations, or ask questions
-Attention to detail, willingness to follow standards and company guidelines, and to learn internal resources and terminological references on an ongoing basis
-Openness towards regular feedback; willingness to learn and develop
Minimum Qualifications:
-Native-level fluency in Mandarin; highly proficient in reading and writing English
-Proven experience in translation/proofreading and terminology; prior experience with e-commerce, business partnerships, supply chain, operations, logistics translations as well as UI/UX translations is a huge plus
1+ years of relevant experience in translation or localization
-Fast and reliable internet connection at all times
-Timely and independent claiming (i.e., self-assignment) of new tasks made available daily, and proactive communication if unavailable to work. Review/proofreading tasks may also be assigned manually by the in-house team.
-A commitment of min. 15 hours/week, including weekends (please note that volume may fluctuate; this is only an estimated maximum weekly workload in the mid to long term)
Fixed Price vs Hourly
Reviewer compensation is based on the total word count (TWC). TWC aims to account for the fact that QA tasks require the linguist to proofread, edit, and evaluate all content with the same level of attention.
Hours per week
New review tasks are made available for claiming regularly; we estimate the weekly workload to be around 2-10 hours per week on average in the beginning, but we are confident that this will increase over time. Please note that volume can vary due to business factors outside of our immediate control, and the team will endeavour to communicate this in advance.
Duration in weeks or months
This is an ongoing collaboration, and we are looking forward to a long-term partnership as our Mandarin review needs increase.
Start Date
As soon as possible; work is made available on an ongoing basis.
Finish Date
Unlimited, subject to compliance with operational and quality requirements.
Timezone or Geographic restrictions
This is a work from home position and is open to all timezones; however, the linguist will be required to deliver translations in accordance with deadlines typically established on NA or EU time.
