Mandarin Technical Manual Translation
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I have a set of highly technical manuals that must be rendered accurately into Mandarin Chinese. The source files are structured documents (mostly Word and occasionally PDF) filled with engineering terminology, step-by-step procedures, safety notes, and labeled diagrams.
Because these manuals will be used on factory floors as reference material, absolute precision is critical—mistranslations of a single term could lead to costly errors. I therefore expect:
• A fluent, native-level Mandarin text that mirrors the tone and register of the original.
• Consistent use of technical vocabulary; if you work with CAT tools such as Trados, MemoQ, or SDLX, please leverage termbases and translation memories to keep recurring phrases identical.
• Layout and numbering that follow the source document so engineers can cross-reference pages effortlessly.
• A brief terminology list for any newly coined or industry-specific terms you encounter.
I will supply an initial batch of 12,000 English words to start. Once that is approved, further manuals will be released in similar packages. Please indicate your turnaround time for the first batch, your preferred CAT tool (if any), and a couple of sample projects that show you have handled comparable technical content before.
Files are ready to go and I am happy to answer clarifying questions right away so you can begin translating without delays.
