Autonomous Exploration Robot Software Engineer

Job ID: 39863707

Budget: $1,000 – $10,000 USD

I’m advancing an autonomous robot whose core mission is exploration and navigation, and I need an engineer with a strong technology-and-software background to drive the project forward. The mechanical platform and basic electronics are already in place; what I’m missing is a developer who can turn it into a smart, self-reliant machine.

The immediate goal is to design and implement the full software stack: perception, real-time decision-making, and motion control. You should be comfortable working with ROS (preferably ROS 2), SLAM techniques, sensor fusion for LIDAR + vision, and writing reliable, maintainable code in C++ or Python. If you have experience tuning PID controllers, integrating IMUs, or optimizing power management on embedded boards, that’s a plus.

Key deliverables
• A modular architecture that lets me swap sensors without rewriting half the code
• Robust mapping and localization that can handle GPS-denied, indoor environments
• Obstacle avoidance and path-planning routines validated in simulation and on the actual robot
• Documentation and a brief hand-off session so I can continue iterating after your work is complete

I’ll provide CAD files, sensor specs, and access to a Gazebo simulation world so you can test remotely before flashing the firmware. Let’s collaborate to get this explorer reliably finding its own way.
