Cosmetics Competition Assistant (Multilingual Support & Cultural Specialist)

We are looking for a Japanese-speaking Cultural & Logistics Assistant to support an International Student Cosmetics Competition focused on Japanese beauty trends, skincare innovation, and cosmetic artistry. This role will help bridge language and cultural gaps, assist in research, and ensure authentic representation of Japanese beauty standards and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research & Content Development
Research Japanese cosmetics trends, ingredients, and traditional/modern beauty practices.
Assist in compiling a guidebook or digital resource on Japanese skincare routines, makeup techniques, and product knowledge.
Translate competition materials (English ↔ Japanese) for participants, judges, and promotional content.
2. Competition Support & Cultural Liaison
Serve as a language and cultural intermediary for Japanese-speaking participants, judges, or sponsors.
Help organize workshops or demonstrations on Japanese beauty techniques (e.g., "glass skin" routines, Geisha-inspired makeup, J-beauty product formulation).
Verify the accuracy of competition criteria related to Japanese beauty standards.
3. Event Coordination & Judging Assistance
Assist judges in understanding cultural context (e.g., the significance of "wabi-sabi" in packaging design or "kawaii" aesthetics in makeup).
Support participant inquiries regarding Japanese cosmetic regulations, ingredient sourcing, or historical influences.
Help prepare presentation materials, including subtitles or live interpretation if needed.
4. Outreach & Networking
Engage with Japanese beauty brands, influencers, or experts for collaborations or sponsorships.
Promote the competition in Japanese student communities, cosmetology schools, and J-beauty forums.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Fluent in Japanese (written & spoken) + strong English proficiency.
Background in cosmetology, beauty science, fashion, or Japanese cultural studies is a plus.
Passion for J-beauty, skincare, and makeup trends (e.g., brands like Shiseido, Shu Uemura, or trends like "mochi skin").
Strong research, translation, and organizational skills.
Experience in event support, content creation, or customer service is a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):
Familiarity with cosmetic formulation, dermatology, or sustainable beauty practices.
Previous work with Japanese beauty brands or media.
Social media savvy (to help promote the competition).
