Chinese Brand Acquisition & Marketing Language Specialist

Job ID: 39808946

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

We are looking for a sophisticated Chinese Language Specialist to play a pivotal role in our brand acquisition strategy. This individual will be the crucial bridge between newly acquired Chinese brands and our global marketing team. You will go beyond translation, providing deep cultural and linguistic analysis to evaluate brand value, ensure seamless marketing integration, and localize global campaigns for authentic resonance with Chinese audiences. Your work will directly impact brand equity, customer retention, and market success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pre-Acquisition Due Diligence & Brand Analysis:

Linguistic Audit: Analyze the acquired brand's existing marketing collateral, brand voice, slogans, and digital presence (e.g., on Tmall, Douyin, WeChat) to assess brand health and identify potential integration challenges.

Cultural Analysis: Evaluate the cultural nuances of the brand's messaging, branding, and naming. Identify any potential cultural sensitivities, misinterpretations, or reputational risks for the global portfolio.

Market Positioning Report: Translate and decipher competitor analysis and market positioning from Chinese sources to provide a clear picture of the brand's landscape.

2. Post-Acquisition Marketing Integration & Localization:

Brand Voice Integration: Master the acquired brand's voice and the master brand's voice to seamlessly adapt global marketing campaigns for the Chinese market, ensuring consistency and authenticity.

Transcreation, Not Translation: Transcreate marketing copy, taglines, product names, and campaigns. This involves adapting meaning, emotion, and cultural context to resonate deeply with the target audience while maintaining the core campaign message.

Content Localization: Localize all marketing materials, including website content, social media posts, email campaigns, SEO metadata, and advertising copy for platforms like Weibo, Little Red Book (Xiaohongshu), and WeChat.

Quality Assurance (QA): Proofread and edit all Chinese-language marketing outputs to ensure linguistic accuracy, brand consistency, and cultural appropriateness.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Act as the key linguistic advisor for the M&A, marketing, and product development teams.

Brief and manage relationships with external translation agencies, ensuring they adhere to the brand's style guide and cultural tone.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive Chinese style guide and glossary of approved terminology for the acquired brand.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Native Proficiency: Native-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese, with an exceptional grasp of its nuances, idioms, and contemporary slang.

Professional English: Full professional proficiency in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Marketing Expertise: 3-5 years of experience in marketing, advertising, branding, or localization, preferably within a global context or an agency serving Chinese markets.

Transcreation Mastery: Proven experience in transcreation and adapting marketing campaigns for the Chinese market. A portfolio demonstrating this skill is required.

Cultural Savvy: Deep, intuitive understanding of Chinese consumer culture, social trends, digital landscape, and what drives purchasing decisions.

Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze brand voice and market positioning, not just translate words.

Technical Proficiency: Experience with digital marketing platforms and CMS systems. Familiarity with CAT tools (Trados, MemoQ) is a plus.
