Japanese Dialect Localization & Course Coordinator
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am developing a series of online courses designed to provide professionals with essential industry knowledge while highlighting the rich linguistic diversity of Japan. I need a skilled coordinator who can manage the educational workflow and expertly localize existing English content into authentic and engaging Japanese variants, including key dialects like Kansai-ben, Tōhoku-ben, Hokkaido-ben, and standard Japanese (Hyōjungo).
Key Responsibilities:
Course Coordination: Manage the end-to-end educational flow, ensuring a logical and effective learning progression for all course materials.
Content Localization & Translation: Translate and adapt existing English course content (scripts, materials, exercises) into several Japanese linguistic variants, ensuring cultural and contextual relevance.
Dialect Accuracy: Capture the unique grammar, vocabulary, and nuances of each target dialect (e.g., Kansai-ben, Tōhoku-ben) to ensure authenticity and engagement, moving beyond a direct translation.
Quality Assurance: Maintain the original's educational integrity and technical precision while making the content resonate naturally with speakers of each dialect.
Required Qualifications:
Native or superior-level fluency in Japanese and full professional proficiency in English.
Demonstrable experience with and deep understanding of major Japanese dialects (especially Kansai-ben is a must; others are a strong plus).
Proven experience in translation, localization, or content creation.
Excellent project coordination skills with a sharp eye for detail.
Ability to adapt tone and style for different regional audiences while preserving the core educational message.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
A background in education, instructional design, or professional training.
Direct personal or professional experience with the cultures of different Japanese regions.
A passion for linguistics and preserving the unique character of regional Japanese speech.
