Rockstar Proofreader
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
We are looking for a rock-star Proofreader to help manage the production process of all editorial content, work directly with our editorial team and content director to oversee "everything with words", and to align with the production of marketing copy. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, a talented editor with a strong eye for detail, and an all-star communicator.
Responsibilities
• Proofing all editorial content for company and AP Style to ensure consistency and accuracy
• Supporting and contributing to the editorial quality of everything we publish
• Strengthen arguments, streamline prose, proofread, fact-check, and scrutinize every detail of every editorial we publish
• Fact-check editorial content, including articles and data
• Some assistance proofing special reports and some marketing copy for errors in spelling, grammar, word choice, style, and formatting
• Assist in the production process to spot errors or inconsistencies in the formatting of e-mails, web pages, and PDFs
• Have an understanding and ability to complete basic-level web layout tasks using HTML and content management systems like WordPress, Exact Target, Sales Force
Qualifications
• You should have an incredible eye for detail, the ability to spot and help fix structure and flow issues, and the ability to handle dozens of tasks at the same time, all while keeping a cool head
• Quick learner who can work independently, and a go-getter who's self-motivated to get the job done under any circumstance
• At least a year in the industry or proven editing experience
• You know how to juggle a lot given little time, while still maintaining high editorial quality
• Dauntless, driven, and a self-starter
• Bachelor's in English or journalism is desired
• Strong familiarity with AP style
• A basic understanding of HTML
