Mandarin Adaptation of Historical Shorts

I have a series of short stories built around historical settings that now need to live and breathe in Mandarin. The literal translation is complete; what remains is the cultural weave—those references, metaphors, and setting-specific nuances that must feel as if they were written for Chinese readers in the first place.
The assignment is straightforward: go line by line, locate every cultural reference that might jar a Mandarin-speaking audience, and recast it in a way that preserves the original intent while sounding fully native. Dialogue, idioms, and character names already read smoothly, so your main focus stays on contextual elements—holiday customs, place-bound rituals, social cues, and any period-specific symbolism that would otherwise feel distant or confusing.
Deliverables
• A polished Mandarin version of each short story (about eight texts, 3–5 k words each)
• A concise change log outlining every cultural substitution with a short rationale
• Final files in both .docx and PDF formats, clearly labeled by story
