Light Copyediting for Theology Book
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I need a light copyeditor for a 250-page paperback on theology. The focus will be on correcting punctuation errors. The editor should adhere to modern English rules with a few stylistic flairs:
* I use MANY dashes. That is my business.
* I place the period inside the quotation. That is my business. (If that rule has changed, I haven't.)
* I like the footnote marker on the outside of the punctuation--and in most cases the parenthesis. That is my business.
* I may drone on or write sentences too long for modern recommendation. That is my business.
* My training said to underline book titles. That is my business.
* I occasionally use the wrong word, dyer for dire, for instance. Catching that will be YOUR BUSINESS.
* After many re-writes, I have sometimes left commas where no comma should be. YOUR BUSINESS.
* The opposite may be true. I may need one or two commas I've neglected.
* You should specify if you want your name (and contact info) included in Acknowledgements.
* This will be a highly controversial book on Christian theology--I disbelieve in unending punishment. Do not apply if Christianity or Christian Universalism offend you.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Experience in copyediting, especially for academic or theological texts
- Attention to detail and strong grammar skills
