We need a mathematician, physicist or related professional to edit and proofread a book, the first of a series of science books for the education market. The book is written in LaTeX, and has 130 pages. The ideal candidate should know LaTeX, have a strong background in math, physics or related scientific fields, and be able to think critically.
Responsibilities:
Firstly, review the pdf manuscript and evaluate its content, including math equations, facts, and figures;
Provide feedback to author and make recommendations for corrections or improvements;
After approval, edit the manuscript to ensure fluency, clarity and readability of content;
Proofread the final pdf file and provide feedback on content layout and formatting;
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics or a related field;
LaTeX knowledge is a must;
Minimum of 1 year of experience as an editor or proofreader;
Excellent editing skills; ability to explain complex math-related topics;
Superior proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
The project has three milestones:
1. Manuscript evaluation of the pdf file;
2. Editing the LaTeX file;
3. Proofreading of the new pdf file.
