Chinese Book Date-Address Extraction
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have the full manuscript of a book in a plain .txt file, written entirely in Simplified Chinese. My goal is to locate every date, time reference, and address that appears in the text, verify that each one is accurate and consistently formatted, and then supply me with an updated version of the file where those items are clearly highlighted or commented.
Here is what I need from you:
• Read through the text carefully, line by line.
• Identify all occurrences of dates (any format, e.g., “2023 年 5 月 1 日”, “5/1/23”, or traditional lunar references) and every location reference (from street-level addresses up to provinces).
• Cross-check obvious discrepancies—if a place name or date looks incomplete or contradictory, flag it so I can double-check the source material.
• Return two files:
1) the original text with inline annotations or comments marking each date and address, and
2) a separate spreadsheet listing each item, its location in the manuscript (chapter/line number), and the standardized version you propose.
The text is already digital, so no scanning is required. Most of the work is careful Chinese text editing and manual information updating; no special software is mandatory, though using tools such as VS Code, Sublime, or even Word with track changes is fine. Accuracy and thoroughness matter far more than speed—this is meant to be a clean, reliable reference for future editorial work.
