Teen Textbook Language Simplification
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
I’m updating a series of high-school textbooks and need every paragraph rewritten into clear, engaging language that 13- to 17-year-olds can grasp without watering down the core concepts. You’ll take my existing manuscript drafts (about 20,000 words across four chapters) and swap out complex terms, restructure dense sentences, and ensure coherence while preserving all factual detail.
I’ll pass along the chapters as editable Word files; you’ll return two versions for each chapter—one clean, one with tracked changes and highlighted substitutions—so my design team can slot the text straight into layout. To keep the work consistent, please run your edits through readability checks such as Flesch-Kincaid or Hemingway and aim for an average 8th- to 9th-grade level.
Scope & Milestones
• Sample edit of 1,000 words—due first—to confirm voice and approach.
• Full chapter rewrites delivered in two further batches.
Acceptance Criteria
• Reading-level targets met and documented.
• No loss of technical accuracy or key ideas.
• Consistent tone and terminology across all chapters.
Experience in K-12 curriculum writing, copy-editing, or educational publishing is strongly preferred. If you can start right away and provide the initial sample within three days, I’d love to see a brief portfolio or before-and-after examples from similar projects.
