We are creating a beautiful digital recipe book and blog focused on authentic Italian cuisine for an English-speaking audience. We need a true food enthusiast who is fluent in Italian to help us translate, adapt, and visually refine our content.
This is not just about translating words; it's about translating culture, taste, and passion. You will ensure our recipes are not only accurate but also feel genuinely Italian, from the ingredients list to the storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate & Transcreate Recipes: Convert recipe instructions, ingredient lists, and blog posts from English to Italian. Adapt measurements (cups to grams), ingredient names (e.g., "cilantro" to "coriandolo" if appropriate), and techniques for an Italian home cook.
Cultural Authenticity Check: Ensure every recipe is plausible and authentic to its claimed region (e.g., a "Ragù" should reflect traditions of Bologna vs. Naples). Correct any cultural inaccuracies in the original content.
Image & Styling Guidance: Review food photography and provide notes on styling to make it more authentic (e.g., "Use a traditional 'coccio' (clay pot) for this stew," or "This pasta is plated incorrectly").
Basic DTP for PDFs: Format the translated text into the existing layout of our digital recipe book using basic design software, ensuring the final PDF is clean and professional.
Required Skills & Experience (Please do not apply without this):
Native-level fluency in Italian and professional proficiency in English.
Demonstrable passion for and knowledge of Italian regional cuisines. Please tell us your favorite regional dish and why!
Experience translating food, recipe, or lifestyle content. A portfolio is essential.
A good eye for food photography and styling, understanding what "looks" Italian.
Familiarity with basic layout software (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign, or even advanced PowerPoint) to handle text formatting in PDFs.
