Self-Help Manuscript Copy Edit
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
I have a completed non-fiction manuscript in the self-help / personal-development space that now needs a thorough copy edit. The draft has already been structurally reviewed, so the focus is strictly on polishing language: correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling; tightening word choice; smoothing sentence flow; and enforcing consistency in usage, tone, and tense while preserving my conversational voice.
The file is in Microsoft Word and already formatted with basic styles. All edits must be made with Track Changes enabled so I can review every modification, and I’d appreciate a brief style sheet noting decisions on hyphenation, numerals, and any recurring choices. Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style will be a plus, as that is the reference I’ve used so far.
Deliverables
• The fully copy-edited Word document with Track Changes
• A clean, accepted-changes version for easy reading
• A concise style sheet (one page is fine) summarizing editorial decisions
Once we agree on scope, please share an estimated turnaround time and any questions you might have about the material or my audience. Looking forward to giving this book its final professional shine.
