Intensive Chinese Exam Tutoring
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m looking for a Mandarin tutor who can guide me—totally from scratch—through the first four weeks of my course so I’m ready for the upcoming exam. We’ll meet by live video every Thursday evening (Providence, RI / US Eastern time).
The syllabus I need to master is fixed:
• Week 1 (Sep 4): course introduction, Pinyin Practice (1), basic writing system, daily expressions, Chinese numerals, and Lesson 1 “问好 / Greetings”—vocabulary set 1.
• Week 2 (Sep 11): continue Lesson 1—vocabulary 2, core grammar points, dialogue 1, plus Pinyin Practice (2), writing system (2), daily expressions (2).
• Week 3 (Sep 18): Lesson 1—Part 2 with additional vocabulary, grammar, dialogue 2, and Pinyin Practice (3), writing system (3), daily expressions (3).
• Week 4 (Sep 25): full Lesson 1 review, workbook seat-work, tone drilling, then move into Lesson 2 “家庭 / Family”—Part 1 vocabulary, grammar, dialogue 1, and Pinyin Practice (4).
My priorities are clear pronunciation and tone accuracy, solid control of the new vocabulary and grammar, and being able to use the daily expressions naturally. Please structure each session around a single topic so we can go deep, correct mistakes on the spot, and finish with a short recap plus an assignment pulled from the official textbook/workbook (the only materials we’ll use).
By the end of each meeting I should:
– pronounce every new syllable and tone set correctly;
– grasp the grammar pattern covered that day;
– complete the relevant workbook exercise without help;
– use the target expressions in a short dialogue.
If you’re comfortable running tightly focused sessions and providing immediate, precise feedback, I’d love to work with you.
