Academic Book Translation, ¥50k Budget

Job ID: 39934311

Budget: $25 – $50 USD

I have secured roughly ¥50 000 (about US $7 000) to produce a literal Chinese translation of “Race and the Invention of Difference,” an 85 000-word scholarly manuscript. Because the text will be read primarily by academics, I need every argument, citation and nuance rendered with word-for-word fidelity while still flowing naturally in Chinese. A background in cultural studies is essential so that disciplinary terminology and critical theory references stay intact.

At an average pace of 400 words per hour, plus time for a careful self-proof, the project should take 230–250 hours. I have allocated an hourly rate of US $30–35, which aligns with the budget above.

Deliverables
• Complete, publication-ready Chinese manuscript (Word file)
• Translator’s glossary of key terms and names
• One round of post-delivery revisions based on my editorial notes

Please tell me about previous academic or cultural-studies projects you have handled and let me know how soon you could start and finish within the time and budget outlined.
