Animator to Bring19th-century Images of People to Life
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I am an English, UK-based filmmaker. I am in the middle of editing a 19th-century-era docudrama about the interconnected lives of Britain’s Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and the German composer Felix Mendelssohn – all German speakers.
Therefore I am using native German voiceover artists who can speak
1. German where German-only is required (translated onscreen with English sub-titles), and
2. German-accented English.
In the film I am incorporating archival photographic images, as well as paintings, coloured and black-and-white lithographs, and line drawings which I would need to be animated in a limited but precise way, as follows:
Where 19th-century photographs of Victoria, Albert or Mendelssohn appear, each with an onscreen time of, say, 15 seconds, I required the FACE of the individual to “come to life” move his or her head in some way for four or five seconds (no more).
Depending on my instructions, this animation can either be
A. a part of the full-screen image, or
B. a close-up of the face, so that I can cut from the original wide-shot or mid-shot to a close-up.
At the moment I haven’t worked out how many of these separate animation-moments I will require, but I suspect that, based on the above animation types A. and C., it will be around 20.
Work to start in mid- to late December, with no particular time-frame for completion but on an agreed, fixed budget.
I would like to see samples of the applicants’ recent animation work. A sample showing a five-second (or slightly more) segment of a coming-to-life photo or drawing or painting would be helpful but not essential.
