Zoho CRM Deluge Workflow

I already have Zoho CRM talking to our email-validation platform through the vendor’s native integration, yet one key metric that the integration exposes in its API is not passed into Zoho. I have created a custom field to hold that metric, and now I need a Deluge custom function that a workflow can call whenever a Lead or Contact is validated.
Here is what I’m after: the function should reach out to the email-validation tool (they supply endpoints), pull the extra field value that the native integration omits, and write it back to my custom field in Zoho. The only action required is updating this single custom data field; no emails, tasks, or other side effects.
I am gathering specific step by step instructions from the application that I will be able to share.
