Zen Cart Upgrade & Preservation
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I run several live Zen Cart 1.5.6c shops and I am ready to move them to the newest stable release. All stores carry carefully-tuned custom themes, hand-built plugins/modules, and bespoke code tweaks that cannot be overwritten. Payment gateways and shipping methods must behave exactly as they do today, with no hidden breaks in checkout.
Scope 1
• Transfer each shop to the latest Zen Cart core while keeping every modified file intact and fully functional.
• Re-integrate my custom themes, plugins, and code changes so the storefronts look and act the same after the upgrade.
• Validate that existing payment and shipping setups process orders flawlessly.
• Document what you touched so future maintenance is straightforward.
***Another idea is to convert my 2 main webshops(+- 23k + 30k parts) in to a new Prestashop webshop keeping the linked products to category (most important)***
I’m undecided about how much of the regression testing I’ll handle myself; let me know how you normally approach test plans and we can divide that work sensibly.
When the upgrade is stable, I’d like to keep you on call for future tweaks, security patches, or troubleshooting, so clean, well-commented work is essential. Familiarity with Git version control, PHP 7+/8, MySQL and the Zen Cart upgrade toolkit will be a big plus.
Deliverables
1. Fully upgraded, working copies of each shop on a staging environment
2. Deployment to production with zero downtime
3. Post-deployment report listing all modified files, database updates, and any recommended next steps
