Humor-Preserving Book Editor Needed

Job ID: 40528210

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’ve written a conversational, sometimes laugh-out-loud guide to bullying prevention—part memoir, part practical handbook for teachers, parents, and community leaders. The voice is middle-school honest, peppered with jokes that make the heavier moments easier to digest, and I want every bit of that heart to stay on the page. What I need now is a sharp editorial eye that can tighten the structure and smooth the flow so readers glide from story to strategy without tripping.

You’ll work directly in my manuscript (Word or Google Docs—your choice), spotlighting where chapters might shift, anecdotes could land harder, or transitions can better bridge the serious and the silly. Grammar tweaks are welcome, but the primary mission is structural clarity: organize ideas, refine pacing, and keep the humor punching through.

Deliverables I’m looking for:
• An annotated manuscript with inline comments focused on structure & flow.
• A concise editorial memo (2-3 pages) explaining major rearrangements, theme continuity checks, and any spots where laughs or lessons could hit stronger.

If you love balancing comedy with cause-driven content for a small non-profit and can ensure every edit still sounds like me talking to a room full of middle-schoolers and their mentors, let’s collaborate and get this book ready for shelves.
