Short Story Style Coach
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m polishing a series of short stories that draw on my social-work experience, and I can already see where the plots work yet the voice still hesitates. I don’t need full ghost-writing or routine proofreading; what I’m after is a collaborative coach who can show me—line by line—how to sharpen tone, rhythm, and overall style so each piece reads with purpose and heart.
Here’s how I picture the collaboration:
• I’ll send one story at a time (3,500–4,000 words each) in Word or Google Docs.
• You return the draft with in-document suggestions, brief margin notes, and a separate summary that explains why a sentence sings or sags.
• Where useful, rewrite a paragraph or two to demonstrate technique, but leave the rest for me to revise so I learn through practice.
• After my revision, a quick second pass confirms the changes feel cohesive.
I’m open to any proven methods—Track Changes, Loom explanations, or recorded voice notes—as long as the feedback is clear and actionable. Experience with literary short fiction is preferred, and an encouraging tone is a must; my goal is to grow, not just fix typos.
If this sounds like your kind of mentorship, let’s talk about the first story and timeline.
