# Studio Master – VFX Production Hub Development

## Project Overview

I am developing "Studio Master", a Windows-based production hub designed specifically for VFX artists and small studios.

The application already has a working foundation, including:

* Show and shot browser
* Asset management
* File preview system
* Notes panel
* Production dashboard
* Pipeline launcher

The goal of this project is to extend and professionalize the platform with production-focused workflows.

Studio Master helps artists keep every shot, version, reference, render, note, and delivery in one place instead of managing folders, spreadsheets, and chat threads separately.

---

## Core Features Required

### 1. Version Management

Implement a production-friendly version system that allows users to:

* Automatically create shot versions
* Browse version history
* Compare versions
* Restore previous versions
* Track publish dates and user activity
* Maintain complete version logs

This is intended for VFX shot management rather than source-code version control.

Render status must persist after application restart.

---

### 3. Notes & Feedback System

Create an integrated note system that allows:

* Shot-level notes
* Frame-specific notes
* Frame-range notes
* Searchable feedback history
* Review tracking
* User attribution and timestamps

Notes should remain attached to the shot and reload automatically.

---

## Media Support

Initial release should support:

* EXR sequences
* PNG sequences
* JPG sequences
* TIFF sequences

Architecture should be designed so future modules can support:

* MOV / MP4
* Alembic
* FBX
* USD
* Additional 3D formats

without major redesign.

---

## Technical Preferences

Preferred stacks:

### Option A

* Python
* PySide6 / Qt
* SQLite

### Option B

* C#
* WPF
* SQLite

The solution should remain lightweight and optimized for standard Windows workstations used in VFX production.

---

## UI Expectations

The interface should feel familiar to artists and leads.

Desired workflow elements include:

* Drag-and-drop asset bins
* Quick search and filtering
* Sequence browsing
* Preview panel
* Timeline scrubbing
* Context menus
* Fast navigation

Priority is usability and speed over visual effects.

---

## Deliverables

1. Windows installer
2. Full source code
3. Git repository
4. Setup documentation
5. User guide (PDF or Markdown)
6. Short walkthrough video demonstrating:

* Version management
* Render queue
* Notes workflow

---

## Acceptance Criteria

* Runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11
* Uses documented dependencies only
* Version history works reliably
* Render queue supports pause, resume, reorder, and restart
* Render state persists after restart
* Notes attach to frames and reload correctly
* All user actions are logged
* Uses SQLite or similar lightweight database

---

## Bonus Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

* Nuke
* Houdini
* Maya
* RV
* ShotGrid
* ftrack
* VFX pipeline development
* Asset management systems
* Production tracking tools

Please include examples, screenshots, videos, or GitHub repositories of previous workflow or pipeline tools you have developed.
