home page not defaulting to show on main page

I was changing some of the members in my wordpress buddypress admin section and might have changed some of the settings and now the website is not showing pages properly and not displaying home page. I noticed that many pages went to trash, I restored them but the website is still not functioning properly. I have also seen that search function of members profiles is also not displaying.
