Working closely with Habitat for Humanity, Imagine Corporation has developed a powerful new fundraising platform called ‘bodyandsoul.art/Ukraine. In the last few months, the cryptocurrency industry has exploded with innovation, fuelled by increasing institutional investment, rising community sentiment, and the advent of multiple powerful platforms for building secure & decentralised blockchain-based solutions. Leveraging these platforms, early-stage fundraising, has enabled rapid deployment of funds to many of this year’s time sensitive initiatives.
With the support of the Ukrainian Embassy in Canberra, ProjectsWithPurpose has sourced artwork by 4 Ukrainian artists as part of a global non-fungible token (NFT) project. It is our goal to have the bodyandsoul.art/ukraine website live in early April 2022.
Cryptocurrency donations are exempt from capital gains tax, which enables donors to maximise the value of their contributions. Its application as a new way of donating is becoming more prevalent in Australia, but the pace is measured. There were reports earlier this year of a charity for homeless people in the Tweed Shire of northern NSW receiving a cryptocurrency donation, but organisations including the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation have also received cryptocurrency donations.
A $4.9 million gift to international medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has become the largest known cryptocurrency charity donation realised from a non-fungible token (NFT) project. The donation was made from the auction of NFT artworks by a digital artist. Crypto philanthropy represents an exciting new channel to raise much needed funds at a time when the world is facing unprecedented challenges.
We are now exploring various NFT platforms to support this important project.
