WordPress/WooCommerce Custom Shirt Configurator & Customer Dashboard (Phase 1 MVP)

Project Overview

We are a Scottish tailoring company looking for an experienced WordPress/WooCommerce developer to build the first phase of an online custom shirt ordering platform.

Our website is already built on WordPress and WooCommerce, and we would like to extend these existing systems rather than replace them.

This project is intended to become the foundation of a much larger platform over time, including trade accounts, white-labelled reseller websites and production management. However, this project is for Phase 1 only.

We are looking for a developer who can recommend sensible, cost-effective solutions using existing plugins and technologies wherever appropriate, rather than reinventing functionality that already exists.

The Goal

We would like a customer to be able to:

Register or log into their account
Design a custom shirt using an interactive configurator
Enter or select their measurements
Add the shirt to their basket
Pay securely through our existing checkout
Receive a detailed order confirmation
Return to their account later to reorder or edit previous shirts

Existing cloth database (approximately 500 shirt fabrics)

We would like to build on these systems wherever possible.

Shirt Configurator

Customers should be able to customise the following:

Ideally searchable and filterable.

Cuff
Shirt Front Style
Pocket Style
Shirt Back Style
Darts
Button Colour
Thread Colour
Stitching Colour
Monogram

Including:

Initials
Font
Position

Contrast Cloth Options

Customers should be able to choose contrasting fabrics for:

Under Collar
Inside Collar
Under Cuff
Button Placket
Visual Preview

A live preview should update as options are selected.

This does not need to be a fully rendered 3D model.

Layered illustrations, SVGs or another practical approach are perfectly acceptable if they provide a professional customer experience.

We welcome recommendations from developers.

Measurements

Customers should be able to:

Create a new measurement profile
Edit an existing measurement profile
Select an existing profile during checkout

Support for multiple measurement profiles per customer is required.

Customer Account

We would like to extend the existing WooCommerce "My Account" area to include:

WooCommerce Integration

When a shirt is added to the basket, all selected options should be stored with the order.

This should include:

Cloth
Collar
Cuff
Front
Back
Pocket
Darts
Buttons
Thread
Stitching
Monogram
Contrast selections
Measurement profile used
Order Confirmation Email (Customer)

A standard WooCommerce receipt is not sufficient.

We require a professional order confirmation which summarises the customer's complete shirt specification.

Production Order

This is one of the most important parts of the project.

When an order is placed, production should automatically receive an email containing the complete manufacturing specification.

The email should include everything required to manufacture the garment, including:

Customer Name
Order Number
Fabric Code
Fabric Description
Every selected style option
Monogram details
Contrast details
Measurement profile
Complete measurements
Customer notes
Internal notes (if applicable)

If practical, we would also welcome this information being attached as a clean PDF production sheet.

Administration

Within WordPress we require an administrator to be able to:

View customer details
View measurement profiles
View shirt specifications
View production information
View order history

A full CRM is not required during this phase.

Future Development (Not Included in This Quote)

The successful developer may also be invited to work on future phases, including:

White-labelled reseller websites
Trade customer accounts
Production tracking
Pattern management
Manufacturing integrations
Customer communications
API integrations
