WordPress + WooCommerce E-Commerce Restructuring – Integration, Performance & UX Optimization
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
We are looking for an experienced WordPress/WooCommerce developer (or small team) to restructure and optimize an established e-commerce store that has been running for 5+ years without a proper technical cleanup.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Our online store (WordPress + WooCommerce) is connected to a Retail Pro Prism POS system (Oracle database, on-premise Windows Server) through an RDI middleware connector that handles product, inventory, pricing, and image synchronization. The site runs on AWS infrastructure (WAF > ALB > EC2 with Auto Scaling > RDS MySQL).
The platform has accumulated significant technical debt: 60+ plugins with major redundancies, sync failures between POS and WooCommerce, performance bottlenecks, and a conversion funnel that underperforms despite growing traffic.
SCOPE OF WORK
The project is divided into 4 pillars:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
PILLAR 1 — Custom Sync Module (Oracle to WooCommerce)
Design and develop a lightweight middleware to replace/complement the current RDI connector
Connect the on-premise Oracle database (Retail Pro Prism) to WooCommerce using standard WooCommerce REST API
Handle synchronization of products, inventory, prices, and images
Eliminate current sync failures where products show as out-of-stock despite having inventory in the POS
Replace direct MySQL updates (currently used for consignment products) with proper API-based workflows
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
PILLAR 2 — Plugin Audit & Optimization
Audit and rationalize 60+ active plugins down to a lean, non-redundant stack
Current redundancies: 2 SEO plugins, 3-4 security plugins, 3 caching plugins, 9 page builder/Elementor plugins, 6 import/export plugins
Recommend and implement a consolidated plugin architecture
Ensure no functionality loss during cleanup
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
PILLAR 3 — UX & Conversion Optimization
Address the primary conversion drop-off point (before add-to-cart)
Implement a size/fit assistant tool (fashion e-commerce)
Redesign Product Detail Pages (PDP) for decision-oriented flow
Improve mobile performance and page speed
Implement dual CTAs, contextual WhatsApp integration, and transparent checkout for high-ticket items
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
PILLAR 4 — AWS Infrastructure Review
Review and optimize current AWS setup (EC2 Auto Scaling, RDS, WAF, ALB, ECS/ECR, CloudWatch)
Identify cost-saving opportunities and performance improvements
Ensure infrastructure supports the optimized platform
REQUIRED SKILLS
WordPress + WooCommerce development (advanced)
WooCommerce REST API expertise
POS/ERP integrations (Retail Pro, Oracle DB, or similar)
PHP, Python, or Node.js for middleware development
AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, ALB, WAF, CloudWatch)
Frontend performance optimization
UX/conversion optimization for e-commerce
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with RDI (Retail Dimensions Inc.) connectors
Familiarity with Retail Pro Prism
Spanish language (site and team are Spanish-speaking)
DELIVERABLES
[1] Functional custom sync module with documentation
[2] Plugin audit report with before/after architecture
[3] Implemented UX improvements with measurable conversion baseline
[4] AWS infrastructure assessment with optimization recommendations
[5] Knowledge transfer documentation
TO APPLY — Please include:
(1) Relevant experience with similar WooCommerce + POS integration projects
(2) Your proposed approach and estimated timeline
(3) Examples of plugin optimization or performance improvement work
(4) Your availability and team composition (if applicable)
Budget is open to discussion based on qualifications and proposed approach. This is a project-based engagement with potential for ongoing maintenance support.
