Ubuntu Server Multi-Site Creation
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I need an experienced Linux-Apache engineer to walk me through creating a clean, future-proof structure on my Ubuntu server so it can host four WordPress sites now and scale to eight without any one client seeing another’s data.
During our 1 to 1.5 hour random weekday sessions (Starting 6pm EST Brisbane Australia) we will cover:
• A simple “umbrella” landing layer that routes each owner to only their site while keeping URLs tidy.
• Cloning my current (offline, re-branding) WordPress install into four separate virtual hosts. Adding domains and routes as completed and purchased by me externally as we go. There should be an admin page to transfer ownership of individual sites and then they can look after it. This admin page is the "Umbrella" corps - mine. I shall be free to EASILY give one site to anybody at any given time as per any agreements reached.
• Lock-tight segregation of traffic through name-based vHosts and SSL—full encryption is non-negotiable.
• Preserving the existing desktop partitions exactly as they are. Private - Business. We work only on the business side.
• Comparing WordPress with easier, internationally-friendly alternatives (Joomla, Drupal, or anything you can justify) for long-term sales growth. Creating 1x page landing pages on agreed new platform for 4x sites, as per existing WordPress site.
• Set up 4x more BLANK sites and pathways ready for expansion, including them in the initial "Umbrella", with option to expand further when more space is acquired. (Total 8 this time with increasing capacity via cloning preset built in? - Talk to me)
By the end I expect a fully operational framework and 4 working websites, segregated encrypted directory layout, apache.conf / vhost examples, SSL strategy, and your recommendation on the most suitable CMS.
The whole thing securely running/ editable and futureproofed (enough) before you leave.
A short follow-up Q&A for troubleshooting should be included.
If your background shows hands-on experience configuring multi-site Apache hosts, cloning WordPress securely, and rolling out SSL at scale, let’s have a chat to see how we can organise our time to complete this project over a few weeks, 1 to 1.5 hours at a time during weekdays from 6pm EST Brisbane Australia.
