Custom Travel Blogger Dashboard, User Profiles, and Article Management System for WordPress
Background
We are developing a travel blog platform (senzarotta.it) where users can register as travel bloggers, publish their own articles, have public profile pages, and grow their visibility through experience points and badges.
The website is built on WordPress using:
Ultimate Member (for user profiles and registration)
WP User Frontend Pro (for article submission via frontend)
Elementor (for layout customization)
The core structure is already in place. Now we need a freelancer to finalize and professionalize the user system and content management workflow.
Tasks to Complete
1. User Dashboard (Private, after login)
Create a fully custom dashboard for each logged-in user at senzarotta.it/dashboard
Dashboard must include:
Editable cover image (individual per user)
Circular profile picture (avatar)
Full name, short bio, and registration date
Experience points and current badge
Add a vertical sidebar or responsive layout with:
"Write New Article"
"My Articles" (list of submitted articles with:
title preview
status (draft / pending / published)
edit icon
pagination if needed)
"Edit Profile"
"Logout"
Display a profile completion progress bar in the dashboard. A user cannot publish any article until:
Name is filled
Short bio is written
Date of birth is added (private, not publicly visible)
2. User Roles and Progression Logic
When a new user registers, assign the "contributor" role
Contributor can:
Access limited dashboard
Submit only one article for admin review
After the first article is approved by admin, the user is:
Promoted to "author" role
Unlocks full dashboard features
Gains permission to publish articles without approval
3. Article Publishing Workflow
Article submission form (via WP User Frontend Pro) must include:
Title
Body text (with WYSIWYG editor)
Featured image
Tags
Image gallery (multi-image upload with slider display)
When an article is submitted:
Automatically set as "pending"
Admin receives notification
If approved, it is assigned to a category automatically based on tags (e.g., tag "Asia" assigns post to Asia category)
When viewed, the article must:
Display a slider of all uploaded images below the main content
Show author bio with avatar and link to public profile
4. Public Profile Pages
Each registered user must have a public profile page at:
senzarotta.it/travel-blogger/username
The public profile should include:
Cover photo and avatar
Bio and optional social media links
Grid or list of published articles
Pagination if needed
Display of badge and experience points
5. Travel Blogger Directory
Create a public listing of all registered travel bloggers at:
senzarotta.it/travel-bloggers
For each blogger:
Show avatar, name, short bio, and link to their profile
Optionally display number of published articles
Use a responsive grid layout with pagination
6. Experience System and Badges
Implement a progression system:
After publishing a certain number of articles, users receive experience points (XP) and unlock badges
Example:
10 article = Explorer
30 articles = Voyager
70 articles = Pathfinder
Experience level and badge must be visible:
In the private dashboard
In the public profile
Experience points should be stored as user meta fields
7. Article Listing and Pagination
Ensure articles are listed in grid format on:
Homepage
Category pages
Tag pages
Each listing should show:
Featured image
Title
Short excerpt
Author info (avatar + name)
Add numbered pagination or infinite scroll as needed
8. Security and Permissions
Users must not access wp-admin
Restrict dashboard visibility to the logged-in user only
Ensure proper role-based capabilities:
Contributor: one submission, no publishing
Author: post freely, edit own articles
Admin: full access
9. Technical Requirements
Ensure responsive design across all devices
Optimize all image uploads (via reSmush.it or similar)
All new elements must be SEO-friendly and use clean permalinks
Ensure compatibility with Elementor and multilingual plugins (e.g., TranslatePress)
Optional (Extra Quote if Needed)
Notification system (e.g., when article is approved or badge unlocked)
Leaderboard or ranking of top travel bloggers
