Premium modular short-stay platform — WordPress + MotoPress + Portuguese fiscal integrations

## Project overview

I'm looking for a senior WordPress developer to build a custom booking platform for a premium short-stay property in northern Portugal (Marco de Canaveses). The property is a 4-bedroom house rented under a **modular configuration system**: instead of single rooms, the property is sold as 6 pre-defined configurations (whole house, left wing, right independent suite, individual rooms), with rules about which configurations can coexist on the same dates. Up to 4 different guests may share the property at the same time.

A visual mockup is available at https://preview--stay-modular.lovable.app/ for reference. **IMPORTANT: the mockup is for visual reference only — it was generated with Lovable (React/Next.js) and is NOT to be imported as code.** The implementation must be in WordPress + PHP.

## Tech stack (decided, not negotiable)

- **WordPress 6.x** (latest stable) on Linux VPS (Hetzner Cloud)
- **MySQL** database
- **MotoPress Hotel Booking** plugin as base reservation engine
- **PHP custom code** for all business logic that the plugin doesn't cover
- **Polylang** for multi-language (PT/EN/FR)
- **Astra or Kadence** theme as base, with custom child theme

Please do NOT propose alternative stacks (Node.js, Laravel, etc.). The stack is locked.

## Core features

1. **Modular reservation engine** — 6 pre-defined configurations modeled as MotoPress accommodation types, with a custom incompatibility matrix (PHP hooks). System must enforce that incompatible configurations cannot be booked on overlapping dates.
2. **Maximum 30-day rental period** per booking, validated server-side.
3. **Up to 4 concurrent reservations** on the same dates (when configurations are compatible).
4. **Seasonal pricing** — high/medium/low seasons with configurable dates and prices per configuration.
5. **Discount coupons** and email-based discounts (e.g., specific email domains get a discount).
6. **Guest account system** — registration, login, profile, NIF field, booking history, invoices.
7. **Payment integration**:
- Stripe (cards, including UE/UK/international rates)
- IfthenPay (Multibanco and MB WAY) — custom gateway
8. **Automatic invoicing** via InvoiceXpress API:
- Invoice generated automatically on payment confirmation
- Includes mandatory AT QR Code and ATCUD (handled by InvoiceXpress)
- PDF sent to guest by email
- Stored in admin panel
- Auto credit notes for cancellations
9. **Self-service for guests**:
- Modify dates (within rules)
- Cancel booking with automatic refund
- Resend access code
- Help center with contextual FAQ
10. **Smart lock integration (Nuki Web API)** — automatic generation and expiration of access codes per booking, sent via email and SMS (Twilio).
11. **Review system** — automatic email 24h after check-out inviting review, public display with aggregate rating.
12. **Multi-language site** (PT, EN, FR) via Polylang.
13. **Admin dashboard** (WP-Admin with customizations) — bookings overview, calendar, pricing management, invoice list, guest management.
14. **Automatic emails** (transactional via Resend or Postmark) — confirmation, check-in instructions, access code, post-checkout review request.

NOTE: AIMA / SIBA reporting is OUT OF SCOPE — the client will handle it separately.

## Required experience

- **5+ years senior WordPress development** (not just plugin installation)
- **MotoPress Hotel Booking** previous projects (please link)
- **Portuguese fiscal integrations** — InvoiceXpress, Moloni, or Vendus API experience
- **Portuguese payment gateways** — IfthenPay or EuPago
- **Custom WordPress plugin development** in PHP (not just child theme tweaks)
- **REST API integration experience** (Stripe, third-party APIs)
- **Working Portuguese language skills** (the site is in Portuguese; legal/fiscal context is Portuguese)
- Bonus: Nuki Web API experience

## Deliverables

- Production-ready WordPress installation on the VPS I provide
- All custom code in a single custom plugin (well-documented, PSR-compliant)
- Polylang configuration for PT/EN/FR
- All 6 pre-defined configurations modeled and tested
- All integrations fully functional in a staging environment first
- End-to-end testing: booking → payment → invoice → access code → check-in → review
- Setup documentation and a short Loom video walkthrough of the admin panel
- 90-day bug-fix warranty after go-live

## Timeline

- Estimated 7–8 weeks from kick-off
- Milestone-based delivery (staging environment with reservation flow → staging with payments and invoicing → production deployment)
