Make wordpress emails work with gmail

I am looking for a freelancer who can help me make my WordPress emails work with Gmail. Currently, I am using the default WordPress email system and I do not require any custom templates. However, I am facing issues with email functionality and they are not working properly.
Emails work fine except sometimes they go to spam with Gmail and sometimes they are not even delivered also with Gmail. I believe I need to use SMTP I am not sure how this really works I installed a STMP plugin which cause a critical error so want someone who knows what they are doing.
