Development of existing site

I have a WP site with some goals of user engagement. I have a WP person to help, but I'm looking for advice on how to use WP features and addons to accomplish certain user engagement goals. This is a genealogy website and is volunteer, not income producing. Using Elementor and Buddy Boss. Want to work on process and appearance to enhance engagement and participation.
