Attributes / Variations Issues - WordPress, woo commerce,

Looking for a freelancer to fix a problem we are having on Woo Commerce.
We are running the Laftka Theme, for a pizza shop, mainly using that theme as it allows variations from pizza sizes and toppings.
We are trying to add a new promotion to the site on a Tuesday. Where a customer can add a large pizza and then get the same type or lesser value medium pizza for free!
However we also want them to be able to pay extra if they want to upgrade their medium pizza.
For example.
A Large Cheese cost $10 this would allow them to get a free medium worth $6 or less for free (in this instance they could only get a cheese pizza, as that is the only pizza worth $6 on the menu)
A Large Pepperoni Costs $15 this would allow them to get a free medium worth $8 or less for free. (in this instance they could get a Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, Veggie, Seafood Pizza as there free pizza, as they are all worth $8 or less)
Now If they had bought a Large cheese but they want to have a medium pizza which costs a little more, we want to allow them to pay the difference Example - They want to upgrade there free cheese pizza to a Pepperoni the Equation would be: Pepperoni $8 minus Cheese $6 = Giving us a $2 upgrade cost!
Now we have looked at doing this with variations. By putting every plausible variation in and adding a price for that combination - Example
Cheese and Cheese $10
Cheese and Pepperoni $12
Cheese and Sausage $12
Cheese and supreme $16
But after we get to 55 variations or more we have timeout issues, with it sometimes working and sometimes not.
I'm looking for some fixes, for this. Which do not effect the speed of the site, and do not change the theme!
This may be a plugin, an addon, or maybe a different theme.

But this does not have all the products, as the site becomes even slower or does not work when all are added!
