WordPress Blog Theme Setup

I need to configure the blog theme at

to match the design of the main website

For reference, this is the old blog that is being migrated. The data is already migrated, your job is only to configure the visual theme.

Either we use Kadence theme and configure it; or make a custom theme, but then there's the risk of the code getting outdated. Let me know what you think is the best option.
How I want my theme
- Matches main website CSS
- Custom font Creo, which needs letter-spacing setup manually for various font weights (see my CSS); I added extra letter-spacing for headers.
- Styles configured so that the various articles display well -- according to the new visual branding
- Needs to look clean and professional
- It contains 12 years of blog history!
- Navigation by date, category or tags
- Social media sharebar
- Guidance as to which plugins to use
- Call-to-Action in article footer
- Home page: display 1 "featured" latest article, then a grid of 2 or 3 columns
- We'll get rid of the sidebar, and instead have a "Explore by Topic" link somewhere
- Meta links; see if "useful" features like RSS feed can be kept discretely in the footer without cluttering the layout. Can also have Archive (by dates) at the bottom instead of the sidebar.
To be considered for this job, answer these 3 questions. Failure to answer will automatically disqualify you (and 90% of applicants).
