Excel-to-Word Mail Merge Fix

Job ID: 39980625

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Every month I run an in-person sports-card consignment where bidders often walk away with multiple lots. My Excel sheet already holds the key fields—buyer number, lot number, bid, sales tax and total—but when I run a standard mail merge the Word output splits each lot onto its own page instead of rolling all of a buyer’s purchases into a single report.

I’d like you to rework the merge so each buyer receives one consolidated Word document that lists every lot they won, the tax on each bid and the final cost per lot, followed by their overall total. Native Excel and Word tools are preferred; a little VBA or a Transform/SQL step is fine if that’s what it takes, as long as I can maintain it for future sales.

Deliverables:
• Updated Excel file (or helper query) that feeds grouped records by buyer
• Word mail-merge template that prints one report per buyer with dynamic totals
• Short walkthrough so I can repeat the process for future monthly events

That’s it—everything else about my workflow stays the same, I just need the report to come out right.
