Formatting and Standardizing Word Documents
Budget: €8 – €30 EUR
Project Summary – Format 56 Word Documents (IDs, Headings & TOC)
I have 56 Word documents plus one Excel file. I need you to manually standardize all documents so they match the structure and formatting of my example file AM-02.docx (which I will provide as a reference).
Your tasks:
ID & Title (First Page)
Each Word file has an ID in its filename (e.g. AM-06, BCM-01).
In the Excel file, find the row with that ID and copy the corresponding Title.
On the first page of the Word document:
Set the correct ID line.
Set the correct Title line (from Excel).
ID and Title should appear once, same position and style as in AM-02.docx.
Chapters & Sub-chapters (Headings)
In the body of each document:
Lines starting with a single number (e.g. 1 ..., 2 ..., 3 ...) are chapters → format as Heading 1 (Headline 1).
Lines starting with number.number (e.g. 2.1 ..., 4.2 ...) are sub-chapters → format as Heading 2 (Headline 1.1).
Keep text black and don’t change any other content.
Use AM-02.docx as the visual reference for how these should look.
Table of Contents (Inhaltsverzeichnis)
Each document has a Table of Contents page titled “Inhaltsverzeichnis”.
After fixing all headings, right-click the TOC → Update Field → Update entire table.
Ensure:
All chapters and sub-chapters appear correctly,
Page numbers are correct,
Entries are clickable and jump to the right sections.
You don’t need to understand German; the work is based on numbers + Word styles.
If anything is unclear, please ask me before processing all 56 files... in summary you just need too ... • . Update the ID on the first page and in the header (the ID is the name of the corresponding word file)
• Update the title on the first page (value in the « Title » row from the Excel file)
• Mark every chapter as « Headline 1 »
• Mark the sub chapters as « Headline 1.1 »
• Refresh the TOC
