WordPress Software Download Store Setup

I’m launching a niche storefront that will sell downloadable software only, and I need the entire WordPress environment configured so customers can purchase, download, and stay updated with ease.

The core of the build is straightforward: a clean WordPress install (I’m fine with either WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads—whichever you feel best suits software delivery) connected to three payment rails: direct Credit/Debit processing through Stripe, plus PayPal for those who prefer it. Every successful order should immediately create a user account if one doesn’t already exist, store the purchase in that user’s dashboard, and send out the usual confirmation emails.

Automatic update handling is essential. When I post a new version, existing customers must see an update prompt inside their account area and be able to download the latest build without repurchasing. If you have experience hooking update notices into desktop apps or simple in-app version checks, let me know how you’d approach it.

Visual design can stay lightweight; the priority is speed, clarity, and a friction-free checkout. I’ll supply the logo, product copy, and installers—your remit is everything technical: theme configuration, plugin selection, payment gateway setup, security hardening, and a short hand-off guide so I can add future releases myself.

Acceptance criteria
• Shoppers can pay with Stripe (credit/debit) or PayPal and receive an instant, secure download link.
• Each purchase is stored in a personal account area with unlimited re-downloads.
• When a new version is published, logged-in owners see an update notice and fresh download.
• Basic SEO, caching, and SSL in place so the store is ready for public launch.
