About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Technical Specialist - Firmware to collaborate on cutting-edge embedded systems projects aligned with Industry 4.0. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in embedded firmware development, IoT, and industrial automation, with a strong ability to work independently in a remote, global team environment.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting firmware for industrial embedded devices while ensuring compliance with best practices, AI-driven optimizations, and firmware lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities
Analyze and define firmware architecture for industrial embedded systems.

Develop, debug, and optimize firmware for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, RISC-V, etc.) and embedded Linux systems.

Implement and troubleshoot industrial protocols (Modbus, PROFINET, OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP).

Ensure code quality through reviews, static analysis, and automated testing.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HW, Cloud, Testing) to deliver robust firmware solutions.

Support product lifecycle management, including firmware updates and issue resolution.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation.

Adapt firmware for supply chain challenges (component shortages, alternative MCUs).

Integrate IoT cloud services (AWS IoT, Google Cloud) for device connectivity.

Required Skills & Knowledge
-Embedded Systems & Firmware Development

Strong expertise in Embedded C, Golang (Python/Node.js is a plus).

Experience with RTOS, Embedded Linux (Yocto, Buildroot), and device drivers.

Hands-on with MCU peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DAC, Ethernet).

- Industrial IoT & Communication Protocols

Industrial protocols: Modbus, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, OPC-UA.

Wireless/Wired: Wi-Fi, BLE, Cellular IoT, MQTT, CoAP.

Networking: TCP/IP, OSI layers, embedded stacks.

- Hardware & Tools

Familiarity with ARM Cortex, STM32, Raspberry Pi, i.MX series.

Ability to review schematics and collaborate with HW teams.

Version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing.

- Soft Skills & Approach

Strong problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.

Self-driven, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.

Excellent English communication (written/verbal).

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS IoT Core/Google Cloud IoT.

Knowledge of DFMEA, DFMA, and agile firmware development.

Exposure to AI/ML in embedded systems (predictive maintenance, edge AI).

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.

1 years and more than experience of hands-on firmware development in industrial/automation systems.
