XP software not functioning correctly

We have a laser hair removal machine, which runs on a XP platform. We experienced a power surge and the system would not turn on.
An electronic engineer has managed to get the system re-configured and the software comes back on. However, when the screen is on, the software closes down. Can you help resolve this issue in conjunction with my electronic engineer remotely?
