Windows 11 : COM Port to USB Smart Card Reader

Hello everyone,
I want to know more about smart card readers if anyone have it or used it before.
Once the smart card reader is plugged to laptop (Windows). The system (device manager) read it as Smart Card or Serial port COM (or both) ?
Also, if it's not read as Serial port COM, can we change the driver from Smart Card to Serial port COM ?
