Secure personal folder with password or encryption on Windows computer
Budget: $15 – $25 CAD
Looking for a freelancer who can recommend and implement a tool to help me secure an Access database folder with password protection and/or encryption on my Windows computer.
I have a Windows desktop application called PhoneBook.exe that read a folder containing an Access database files. Here is what we need:
- Need to prevent people on that computer from using Excel to open and read these database files (unless they have a special password)
- Authorised users should continue to be able to use PhoneBook.exe if they have the password, without having to run another program first.
So any tool or security-step you use must run in a batch file or as part of a program that will first remove protection from the data files then execute PhoneBook.exe so the user can work on it.
When the user want to close the program, the reverse should happen (make the files not readable on the computer if PhoneBook.exe is not running)
What is the best way to implement this solution?
I thought of using ZIP with password protection but couldn't make it work from a batch file. If you can make it work then maybe this is the solution. Or perhaps there is a better tool to use for this situation.
