Indie Studio Network Administration Support

Job ID: 40079300

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I run a small indie game studio and need an experienced network pro to look after everything that moves bits for us—from the office switch all the way to our VPS fleet. We rely on both Linux and Windows servers, so you’ll be juggling Ubuntu/CentOS alongside Windows Server while keeping latency low, uptime high, and attackers out.

The immediate focus is threefold: set up or fine-tune our current topology, lock it down with solid security practices, and remain on call for troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance. Most of the heavy lifting happens on virtual private servers where our repositories, CI pipeline, and game test servers live, but there’s also a lean in-house LAN that ties in through a VPN.

Key outcomes I’m looking for
• A documented network design that clearly maps our LAN, VPN, and VPS nodes
• Hardened firewalls, sensible user/group policies, and automated patch routines for both OS families
• Reliable monitoring/alerting so we catch problems before players—or artists—notice

Once the baseline is solid, I’d like periodic health checks and the occasional deep dive when we spin up new machines or add services. If you’re comfortable hopping between Bash and PowerShell, and you enjoy squeezing performance out of tight indie budgets, let’s talk.

Also Web Server, VPN Proxy, Email, Possibly Active Directory, DNS/Domain and more.
