Boot Physical Drive from Virtual Box -- 2
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I changed the permissions to EVERYONE on the Physical Drive which is being loaded as a referenced VMDK from the pointer file I created in CMD prompt.
The following steps are what i did to create the VMDK pointer file.
1. I used the following command to get into VirtualBox Folder. ( cd C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox )
2. Then I ran the following command in command prompt as an Administrator ( VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename "C:\Users\BlueAcePwNAgE\VirtualBox VMs\2014Lpatop\2014Laptop2.vmdk" -rawdisk \\.\PhysicalDrive2 )
3. I changed the permissions on the External Physical Drive to EVERYONE and took ownership of it.
4. Some of the files in the PhysicalDrive gave errors and did not transfer ownership correctly. I have attatched photos so you can see yourself.
5. Made sure to run VirtualBox as an Administrator.
6. Loaded up the VMDK pointer file I made as the storage file.
Now i get the error
FATAL: No bottable medium found! System halted.
Can someone please help me fix this issue? I would really like to load up my Windows 7 machine.
PS... I believe i had a GRUB menu installed on it and this might be causing the issue.
--------------##### UPDATE #####--------------
I have hired a guy named Andrew and he has made it so the operating system boots up. But, it was getting stuck on the windows loading screen. And now the BCD/MBR is being repaired because when booting the physical drive from virtual box it prompts us to repair windows - Then it crashes.
This is what Andrew has done.
1. "Use Host I/O Cache" feature on the hard drive
2. Making it Writeable VirtualBox
3. Disiabled UAC via SECPOOL
4. Enabled the EFI feature in VirtualBox
5. Used DiskPart to offline the disk.
Now he is trying to repair the MBR/BCD using Rescatux and BootRepairDisk.
I believe the issue might be because my current operating system is Windows 10 using a GPT filesystem drive. I did a bit of research and came across this problem with other people. If anyone has experience fixing this. Please let me know.
