Windows Kernel Driver Development
Budget: €8 – €9 EUR
I am looking for someone who is able to develop a Windows Kernel Driver.
It can be done from scratch or by using existing implementations as an idea on how to tackle it.
However you do it, it must have no license and/or depend on something else which defines a license which would restrict this driver.
Requirements:
-> Clean Code
-> No security flaws and no bugs
-> Portable; no installer; possibly temporarily installs as a service (?!); [...]
-> Efficient; excellent performance
-> Requires Administrator rights to execute
-> Must run on oldest Windows OS possible; ideally at least Windows XP / Vista
-> Must include signing of built dll/sys in build process (please use and include a self-created certificate to show functionality)
-> Must be built with Microsoft Visual Studio; ideally 2022+ - whatever is possible
-> external resource / reviewer / security expert needs to validate / accept the driver (TBD)
-> Microsoft needs to validate / accept the driver
Functionality:
-> support some kind of Module / PlugIn functionality to limit functionality
(Users of the driver should not be able to execute everything)
-> Modules / PlugIns must be signed with same certificate as driver itself
-> an example of a Module / PlugIn shall be included in same or external solution
(the example can be empty, but shall be loaded by the driver to show functionality -> maybe a few printf outputs)
TBD:
Modules / PlugIns shall be shipped and loaded by the software using the driver.
API of that is unknown and shall be defined.
General API of the driver has also not been defined yet and shall be similar to existing drivers.
(e.g. get version; load; unload; ...)
General consulting:
I do not want this to be a one-sided "I will do what you say" but rather a development where you can bring ideas and improvements.
If you feel like something is not as it should be, please say so.
Testing:
You will do initial testing, function verification and validation.
Known functionality will be implemented on top of the driver and given back to you to verify.
Your development system should be using recent hardware, to be able to validate some functionality.
Documentation:
Code shall be documented with comments to indicate what everything does.
This is to allow external people to read and understand the code, without getting too deep into driver development.
An external documentation is not required IF the code is documented well enough - I will review this.
Use of AI:
I don't care if you use AI to assist with development.
Please note that you will be the first tester of this code.
If you happen to execute malicious or broken code which was provided by an AI, you may brick your own system which is not my problem.

I will wait a while for bids to come in and take a look at every single one of them.

All rights of this code will be waived by you and transferred to me.
Please note that the project could be removed and re-posted with specific upgrades (like NDA or IP) after a suitable candidate has been found.
The candidate will then be notified and asked to bid on the following project.
