Optimize Mesh WiFi Gaming

I’m running a WI-FI network at home and, whenever I jump into online matches on my PC, the connection just can’t keep up—frequent disconnections and slow speeds make every firefight a gamble. I need a network-savvy gamer to dig into the wireless side of things and squeeze out the lowest possible latency, jitter, optimization, packet issues, FPS and ping. I play competitive and hardwired isn’t an option for me. So Wi-Fi must be on point.

Here’s what I’m after:

• A clear, step-by-step diagnosis of why my WiFi is dropping packets and throttling throughput during play sessions. It’s the rubber-band effect.
• Concrete changes to channel selection, backhaul settings, QoS rules, or firmware that will stabilize the link.
• Before-and-after stats (ping, jitter, throughput) so I can see the improvement in black-and-white.

I just bought an Orbi 770 Mesh system. I will need to place this in the most ideal locations. I am on Xfinity XB7 towers with over 2000 mbps. It is a 3 story townhouse and my PC is on the bottom floor.

Remote access is fine as long as you can guide me through any physical tweaks—node placement, cabling, or antenna orientation—over a call or screen-share. Familiarity with common mesh systems (e.g., Eero, Orbi, Deco, Google Nest) and tools like Wireshark or NetSpot will help you move quickly.
