Rebuild SWMS Document for PSM Welding
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
PSM Welding is a specialist welding and mechanical contractor operating across water, recycled water, fuel lines, and civil infrastructure projects throughout NSW.
We currently have an existing SWMS document. However, we require a complete consolidation and professional rebuild that:
Incorporates all content from our original SWMS
Integrates additional high-risk activities discussed in recent project requirements
Aligns with NSW WHS legislation and current industry expectations
Is structured, professional, and client-ready
This document must be suitable for submission to Tier 1 and Tier 2 principal contractors (e.g. water and infrastructure projects).
Scope of Work
The freelancer will:
Review our existing SWMS document (to be supplied).
Rebuild and restructure it into a comprehensive, modern format.
Incorporate additional high-risk construction work (HRCW) requirements previously identified.
Ensure compliance with NSW WHS Regulation requirements.
Deliver in editable Word format.
Activities to be Covered (Minimum)
The SWMS must cover, but not be limited to:
Core Activities
MSCL Welding
Butt welding
Mechanical fit-out
Pipe installation & tie-ins
Cutting and grinding
Use of welding plant and generators
Lifting operations
Use of mobile plant
Work inside trench excavation
Working around live services (water/fuel)
High-Risk Construction Work (HRCW) to be Incorporated
Must include detailed controls for:
Work in or near trench deeper than 1.5m
Work in confined spaces (including shaft welding)
Work at heights (including davit / harness entry systems)
Work near traffic corridors (TMP/VMP references)
Work in areas of extreme temperatures
Hot works
Working near underground services
Crane lifts and dogging/rigging
Confined space sections must reference:
Entry permit system
Rescue & retrieval plan
Gas monitoring
Air extraction
Standby person requirements
Specific Requirements from Previous Project Discussions
The updated SWMS must incorporate:
Confined space welding treated as shaft entry
Rescue plan inclusion
No shock absorbing lanyards (where previously specified)
Edge protection requirements
Client-issued confined space permit compliance
Traffic management plan referencing (TMP, VMP, TGS)
8-hour minimum shift assumptions
Standby time considerations
Plant risk controls (generator, compressor, welding plant)
Subcontractor control requirements
QA documentation responsibilities for welding
Welding failure / rectification responsibility wording aligned with PSM policy
Risk & Control Format
The SWMS must include:
