Hello, I want to tell you part of my story and current situation in which I find myself with my two children. In August of last year, my oldest son was admitted to the hospital for an infection from a burn on his leg. It was necessary to perform surgery to remove some skin and implant it in the infected part otherwise they would have to cut off his leg. I am a single father with two teenage children. After the operation he was in recovery for 15 days. That's where my situation fell apart. I lost my job and the place where we lived. When I left the hospital, I began to look for services to help me obtain a place or help for my children and so far they have only brought me calls to different places in circles without obtaining any type of help. At the moment, I find myself homeless with my children, even though I have applied. In different places like HOPICS, CALAIM, PUBLIC HOUSING AND OTHERS, no one has been able to help me. I am stuck. I cannot work because I have no place to leave my children there and I cannot leave them alone. I am desperate living day to day. The only thing they tell me about the programs where I applied tells me is that there is no room for single parents, only for families and single mothers. The purpose of these funds, part of requesting help for me, would be to help more single parents who are going through the same situation as me and to be able to help them get ahead. I am not asking for help only for myself and my children but also to help more single parents since there are no programs that help single fathers, even though we are men, we need help.
