Enfold Upgrade & PHP 8.3 Migration
Budget: $100 – $300 AUD
My WordPress site is still running Enfold 4.4 on PHP 7.4. I need the theme brought up to the current 7.x branch and the server migrated to PHP 8.3 without breaking anything that’s already in place.
Scope of work
• Create a full file + database backup and stage the site.
• Update Enfold from 4.4 to the latest 7.x release, resolving any deprecated functions or template changes along the way.
• Switch the staging environment to PHP 8.3, troubleshoot incompatibilities, and fine-tune performance.
• Preserve all existing customisations and plugins; some code tweaks live in the child theme, others in functions.php, so a careful diff is essential.
• I’m not entirely sure whether additional features will be needed yet—please leave the build flexible enough to bolt new elements on if we decide to later.
• I’m also unsure how deep previous theme edits go, so part of the job is to audit what has been customised and flag anything that might not survive a straight update.
• When everything is stable, push the changes to production with zero downtime.
Acceptance criteria
1. No PHP warnings or fatal errors under 8.3.
2. Front-end design and functionality match the current live site pixel-for-pixel unless improvements are discussed first.
3. All existing plugins and custom code remain operational.
4. Google Search Console and caching/CDN settings continue to function as before.
5. A brief hand-over note summarising what was updated and any code edits applied.
Tools you are welcome to use: WP-CLI, SSH, Git, and any standard staging workflow that keeps version control tidy.
Please let me know an estimated timeline for both the staging work and final switchover; I can coordinate DNS or server-side toggles on my end as needed.
