I need a Digital Strategist
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 CAD
New Brunswick has over 300 hundred years of Black history, both good and bad. Much has been taught across Canada, and many African Canadians are celebrated today. Meanwhile, much of NB’s African Canadian historical junctures, diverse partnerships, and accomplishments remain largely unknown with most digital information being difficult to find and most of what's known remaining unorganized, undigitized or difficult to access.
To rectify this The New Brunswick Black History was founded in 2009, and incorporated in 2010 with a mission to Preserve the Past, Honour the People, and Educate the Future, and is dedicated to researching, analyzing, documenting, and the preservation of New Brunswick's Black History.
The NBBHS proposes to develop a Digitization Strategy to build our capacity that will enable us to plan the digitization of the heritage collections
and assets of the history of African Canadians in New Brunswick to preserve our collections and make them accessible for all Canadians. This
digitization strategy will also include the potential use and preservation of these digital assets once we develop them. The NBBHS will contract
an experienced consultant/organization for the development of the strategy which will include a broad-based scope that will encompass our
entire collection, as well as the goals for digitization which outlines the priority of our collections for digital conversion and identify which digital
format is best suited.
Our Main Objectives are:
• To gather information concerning New Brunswick's African Canadians.
• To promote awareness of New Brunswick's Black history.
• To encourage the Black community and the public to work together.
• To work towards increasing the presence of Black History in New Brunswick's educational system.
