WordPress & WooCommerce Technical Webmaster (Backend & On-Page Infrastructure)
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
Candidate: Individual Freelancer Only (No Agencies)
Overall Purpose:
We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Technical Webmaster to take ownership of the backend health and performance of an Australian website. The goal is to move the website away from automated, "lazy" configurations toward a high-quality, manually optimized infrastructure.
You will be responsible for the site's "heartbeat"—ensuring stability, security, and technical accuracy while exploring opportunities to strengthen our local search presence in Australia.
Phase 1: The Technical Audit & Performance Test
The successful candidate will start with a comprehensive 10-hour technical audit. This phase is designed to identify "Technical Debt" and assess your ability to handle both backend and local SEO tasks:
Infrastructure & Ownership Audit: Verify Google Search Console and Tag Manager (GTM) verification to ensure the business owner has permanent, primary admin control.
"Lazy" Setup Identification: Locate all generic RankMath variables (e.g., %term%) that need to be replaced with manual, high-intent text.
Structural Health Check: Audit the Header Tag (H1-H6) hierarchy. You must provide a plan to fix the HTML structure (e.g., excessive H3 tags used for styling) without changing the visual design or font sizes of the page.
Conflict Resolution: Identify duplicate content issues between "Categories" and "Pages" and propose a 301 redirect map.
Local SEO Capability Test: Research and identify high-quality, local Australian backlink opportunities (directories, swim clubs, or niche partners) and provide a strategy for acquiring them.
Ongoing Role
Upon successful completion of the audit, the candidate will transition into a regular role. This will involve:
Technical Fixes: Executing the cleanup plan developed during the audit to resolve all identified technical debt.
Continuous Monitoring: Ensuring 100% site uptime and security via the SiteGround environment.
Expansion: If the candidate proves capable in Phase 1, they will take over the full management of our technical infrastructure and local link-building efforts.
